Blood Pressure Screening
It has recently been recognized that the most important treatment for heart disease is prevention. Heart disease has no obvious signs and unfortunately, for most people the first sign of heart disease is a heart attack or stroke.
Wellness screening helps to detect conditions that may lead to heart disease before they cause a life threatening emergency.
Free Community Clinics
Blood Pressure Clinics
Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services runs free blood pressure clinics on the last Saturday of each month at select firehalls (see schedule). Drop by the fire hall, meet the firefighters and get your blood pressure checked. No appointment is necessary - it only takes a few minutes. Results are reviewed by the firefighter technicians, and each person receives a record card with results you can take to your doctor.

(If you're at the library, check out our very own 'Vancouver Firefighters CPR Certification Manual'. Published by us, it is the manual that we use in our CPR Certification courses. Find it in the 'health' section call # 616.0252 V22a1, or you can reserve it online.)
